November 2024. We are happy to announce that our group member Eren has received a three-year full-time scholarship from the NHR Graduate School, which supports qualified PhD students in the field of high-performance computing. The scholarship includes participation in international meetings and publication support. Eren studied in the Master of Science program Computational Engineering at the Friedrich-Alexander Universität and in the Computational Science program at Università della Svizzera Italiana as a double degree student. He has been writing his master’s thesis in our group on the identification of ordered biomembrane domains in molecular dynamics simulation by incorporating the Gaussian Mixture Model, Hidden Markov Model, and Getis-Ord statistic. This project is named DomHMM. A proof of concept had been completed previously and he worked on transforming DomHMM into a deterministic, optimized, open-source software tool. A paper about this software tool is currently under review for publication.

Congratulations Eren!
